District 20
Welcome to Keeneyville Elementary School District 20's web site. By navigating this web site you will be able to learn about the schools, the school activities, the curriculum and current events in District 20.
District 20 is located in the northwestern corner of DuPage County in northern Illinois. The district serves students and families in four communities: Bloomingdale, Hanover Park, Keeneyville and Roselle. The first school in District 20 opened its doors to only nine students in 1897. In 1950, to honor Albert Keeney, a real estate developer who made numerous donations to District 20, the name of the district was changed from Lake Street School District 20 to Keeneyville School District 20.
Today the school district serves about 1,770 students from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. We have two elementary schools, Greenbrook and Waterbury, and one middle school, Spring Wood. Greenbrook is located in Hanover Park and serves students in kindergarten through grade 5. Waterbury is located in Roselle and provides services to students from pre-kindergarten through grade 5. Spring Wood is located in Hanover Park and serves students in grades 6-8.
More than 200 educators and support staff employees in District 20 are committed to our mission, which is to ensure that all students become competent, motivated students who have self-worth and confidence, who have gained skills that encourage a lasting joy and passion for learning, and who are prepared academically, emotionally and socially to live in a complex society. We are proud of the work we do with our richly diverse student population. We strive to offer high-quality opportunities for all our students.
We welcome your assistance, recommendations and comments. If you have questions regarding the schools or district please contact a building principal or me, Dr. Carol J. Auer, Superintendent of Schools.
