Waterbury Elementary School
Welcome to Waterbury Elementary School.
Our goal is provide meaningful education to students so they have a deep understanding of reading, math, and writing. We want students to be able to think critically about the world around them. We use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Character Counts to develop students ability to work and socialize together. We are focused on the adoption of the new Illinois Learning Standards incorporating the Common Core. We encourage communication and support between the school, home, and student.
We challenge our students to be active participants in their education. We ask students to always question, "What did I learn today?" We invite you to do the same.
We look forward to working with you to provide the best education for our students. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about our school.

Traffic & Safety
We have created two new Traffic & Safety documents for Waterbury. It is always a challenge to easily drop off or pick up hundreds of students at the same time in a limited amount of space. We have created these document to summarizes our pick up and drop off procedures. We can use your help by studying this and sharing it with any family members that may help picking up or dropping off your children.
Parent Tea Meetings
Parent Tea Meetings are an opportunity to have further communication between home and school. We provide them three times a year; August, January, and April. At the Parent Tea, we invite a classroom teacher to come tell a little bit about what the grade level is focusing on right now. At the end of the year, we invite a teacher from the upcoming grade to talk about what you can begin focus on during summer as you get ready for next school year.
The format will include discussion led by
-Mr. Stockhausen on building focus topics
-A grade level teacher (K, 2nd, or 4th) 10-15 minutes
-An additional grade level teacher (1st, 3rd, or 5th) - 10-15 minutes
-Opportunity for questions
