Online Subscriptions 2004-2005

 

Available subscriptions and how to access them are listed below.

World Book Online: If your child types the address http://www.worldbookonline.com/ at school, no user name or password is required. To access from home, the remote access user name and password are available from your child’s teacher.

Encyclopaedia Britannica: This resource will again be available this year. The URL is http://www.school.eb.com/. This site is much improved and far more user friendly. In addition, the district has purchased another component of this product, the Spanish version of Encyclopaedia Britannica (http://www.spanish.eb.com/). From within the district, no user name and password are required. From home, students can access the site by asking their teachers for the user name and password.

United Streaming: The district’s subscription has been renewed for this school year. Point your browsers to http://www.unitedstreaming.com to access more than 2,000 videos divided into over 20,000 video clips and more than 700 images of plants, biomes, animals and the Civil War. Many of the videos have correlations to Illinois state standards, blackline masters, and teacher guides. Teachers can set up user accounts for their students.
 
Atomic Learning: This subscription is available to Spring Wood staff and students. The site (http:www.atomiclearning.com) provides a library of thousands of tutorials for the use of software programs. Please contact a your child's Spring Wood teacher for the user name and password.
 

Culture Grams: This subscription is only for use in the elementary buildings. To access, go to http://online.culturegrams.com/, and the user name and password is available through the elementary teacher. A wealth of information about the land and climate, population, history and much more information about countries and states can be learned at this site.

BrainPOP:  BrainPOP is available to teachers at the elementary buildings. It is a leading producer of animated educational movies. The site (http://www.brainpop.com/) offers interactive quizzes and games, comic strips and experiments.

Ed Helper: This subscription is for special education teachers. Those teachers who were enrolled should have an email explaining how to access the resources on this site.
