What are Board Briefs?

Board Briefs will be published following Keeneyville District 20's Board of Education monthly meetings to share highlights from the presentations, discussion items, action items, and administrator reports. Board Briefs will not replace the official board minutes, but will provide staff and community members with an opportunity to stay up-to-date about Board meetings and actions.

Public Participation

All board meetings are held in-person at Spring Wood Middle School, 5540 Arlington Drive E, Hanover Park, IL in the Innovation Center (2nd Floor), unless otherwise noted. The meetings are also shown live via Zoom, and a recording of each meeting can be found on the district website at https://www.esd20.org/board-of-education/board-meetings.

The Board welcomes and encourages the community to attend board meetings and ask questions during Public Comment in-person (not virtually). You are asked to limit your comments to 3 minutes. Please understand the Board will not respond to your questions and concerns during the meeting. A member of the administrative team and/or board member will follow-up with you after the meeting.

Keeneyville 20 Behind The Scenes Podcast

This month the district launched a new informational video series called "Keeneyville 20 Behind the Scenes" to give families and staff an inside look at decisions and processes we go through to make needed changes in our district.

The recorded videos will be hosted on YouTube @Keeneyville 20 Behind the Scenes, with links and information shared with our community via ParentSquare, as well as on social media and our website.

Board Meeting Highlights

The Board approved consent agenda items including routine financial and personnel reports, as well as the approval of the June 2024 audit.
The Board President's Report included the Board Self-Monitoring Report, Finance & Facilities Committee Report, and SASED reports.
This month's Financial Dashboard was presented by Mr. Marroquin.
Dr. Castillo shared the Superintendent's Report to the Board, which included the Student & Staff Attendance Dashboard. Other information shared included:
- The District is pleased to ae able to avoid a Reduction in Force (RIF) again this school year which reflects long-term planning and commitment to maintaining the strength and stability of our staff, ensuring the continuity in our educational programs and prioritizing the well-being of our students and school community.
- Residency Verification for the 2025-26 registration process will be completed using a third-party process called CLEAR. This safeguards district resources for taxpayers and is convenient for families. Only those families who are new to District 20 will need to verify residency with documentation that they live within district boundaries.
The Administrators submitted written and oral reports to the Board, including a presentation of assessment data by Dr. Buckley.
