Director of Communications and Community Relations
Julie Relihan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government, with a concentration in Law & Society from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 1992. She received her Juris Doctorate with honors from Boston University School of Law in Boston, MA in 1995. She participated in valuable internships in The White House Office of Intragovernmental Affairs (Washington, DC), The Disability Law Center (Boston, MA), and law firms in Illinois, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
She began her career as a litigation attorney in Chicago, focusing on complex commercial litigation, products liability, contract disputes, managed health care litigation, as well as insurance and reinsurance coverage law. She continued to develop her passion and skills for advocacy, strategic planning, and client relationship management as an attorney.
Julie brought her focus on relationship-building and strategic planning to the field of education, where she worked for Junior Achievement of Chicago for 7 years, empowering students to achieve success and plan for their futures. She held several roles within the organization, including Operations Manager, Director of Program Training for Chicago, and Director of Operations for DuPage County. Julie cultivated and strengthened lasting relationships with key stakeholders in education, businesses, and community organizations to bring resources, support, and meaningful learning experiences to K-12 classrooms in the Chicagoland area.
Julie joined Keeneyville Elementary School District 20 and the District Leadership Team in July 2019. She has enjoyed working with the ESD20 Family and is excited to continue on her personal mission to empower youth through education! One of the highlights in her role as Director of Communications & Community Relations is engaging with staff, families, and community groups to help support our students.
