Immigration Concerns

  • Keeneyville D20 remains committed to protecting the rights of our students, staff, and families while complying with the law.
  • Per Federal law, Keeneyville District 20 does not ask for a student’s or their family’s immigration status when they enroll in school.
  • The Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, 20 U.S.C. 123g) protects the privacy of student education and extends to requests from Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) or other federal agencies.
  • District 20’s continued policy is to protect students’ rights if police or any outside agency requests to interview our students or access their records. (Board Policy 7:150 – Student and Family Privacy Rights)
  • Immigration enforcement personnel are required to have a judicial warrant signed by a judge before accessing District 20 schools and other District facilities
