Principal’s Message

Hello, everyone!  We’re off to a great start to the school year!  For many students preschool is a child’s first school experience and first time away from their loved ones.  Our students have adjusted well to school in a short amount of time, which is very nice to see. We have a lot of fun learning experiences for our students and their families this year. Along with the day to day learning that goes on in the classroom, we have several field trips and Parents Education days in the works. Please make sure you check the ECC calendar regularly as our schedule is slightly different from the rest of the district.  Here are a few of our upcoming events:

September 14th - Parent Education Day featuring ECC staff members discussing speech and language development, handwriting, emotional/behavioral regulation, and classroom centers

October 19th  – Cosley Zoo Field Trip

November 2ndPreschool screening (no ECC classes)

November 19th – Parent-teacher Conferences (no District 20 classes, including ECC)

November 20th – Parent-teacher Conferences (no District 20 classes, including ECC)

December 7th - Parent Education Day featuring staff members leading parents in fun and easy activities they can do with their children

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend field trips with their children.  This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your child while engaged in a fun learning activity.  We provide transportation or you can drive yourself if you choose. We’ve had a lot of success with our field trips and look forward to another great year!

Please make sure that you check your child’s backpack daily for information the teachers send home.  There may be informational notes, notes that need a response, a weekly newsletter, and/or other important information that you need to see to be aware of what’s going on in preschool.  Students also bring home work that they have done and by looking at that work and reading the newsletter, you should have some information to be able to talk to your child about what they are doing in school.

This time of year the weather changes quickly.  Please make sure you check the weather daily and dress your child warm enough to go outside.  The state requires us to take the children outside to play for at least 20 minutes unless the temperature is above 90 degree with the heat index, below 25 degrees with the wind chill, or raining.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately to go outside every day. We want all our students to be as comfortable as possible. We also ask that you send a change of clothes with your child in case he/she gets wet throughout the day.  As the weather starts to get colder, please start sending warmer clothing for this change of clothes.

We are really looking forward to another great school year!  Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s educational experience.  If you have any questions about anything, please do not hesitate to talk to your child’s teacher or to me at any time. -Ms. Aubry
